BREATHING

Stunning new release and record deal for Eva Gadd

Rising star Eva Gadd released her new single, ‘Breathing’ on 21st October 2022. The 23 year old artist has also announced her signing to Blue Adventure Records, the record label founded by GRAMMY and JAzz Fm award winning producer NK-OK of Blue Lab Beats, who co-wrote and produced the magnetic new track.

‘Breathing’ pulses with a familiar warmth, the driving beat atmospheric, conjuring a feeling of nostalgia, longing and belonging as the track unfolds and transforms into a fully-formed emotional landscape. Exploring toxic friendships, Eva challenges herself to be brutally honest and refreshingly transparent on ‘Breathing’, reminiscent of South-Londoner Katy B’s masterfully subtle yet powerful flow.

In her own words, Eva explains, “I heard the demo track by Blue Lab Beats and was drawn in straight away by its distinctive beat which carries the whole song. I knew I wanted to be a bit bold with the lyrics, so I started writing about someone I knew who would find problems in a lot that I would do. I’d always find I would be unintentionally offending/hurting them no matter what I did. That’s how the hook became ‘I’m tired of breathing and it hurting you’.”

On Eva’s new signing to Blue Adventure Records, NK-OK says, “I’ve been waiting for a good couple years to choose the right artists for Blue Adventure Records. Having Eva Gadd as the first official release on Blue Adventure is really amazing and I absolutely love working with her. Can’t wait to see what else she does for the future as it seems so bright for her.”

Eva Gadd is a stunning new force to hit the UK neo soul-jazz scene, with her vocal tones both delicate and captivating on ‘Breathing’, floating over a jazztronica groove that’s impossible not to move to. This is just the beginning for the young, up and coming artist and a fierce declaration of what’s to come from her.

LYRICS

Breathing

It’s coldIn hereBut you don’t make it any warmerAnd everybody knows that about ya
I used to understandOr at least try to understandBut that don’t make it any easierNo I don’t think I could change her no
No I don’tSeem to clash with anyone quite the sameAnd they sayWe’re similar in far too many waysAnd maybe I hate thatNo, no I know I hate that
And it’s all we ever seem to doDon’t be mad cos I’m not pulling throughAnd this time, I know it’s what I usually doBut I’m tired of breathing and it hurting you
And it’s all we ever seem to doAnd don’t be mad cos I’m not pulling throughAnd this time, I know it’s what I usually doBut I’m tired of breathing and it hurting
And after I’veTried to fight my cornerAnd make you realise that I never disrespected yaAnd maybe you were just involved because you wanted to be
I don’t know but I don’tSeem to clash with anyone quite the sameThey sayWe’re similar in far too many waysAnd maybe I hate thatNo, no I know I hate that yea
And it’s all we ever seem to doAnd don’t be mad cos I’m not pulling throughAnd this time, I know it’s what I usually doBut I’m tired of breathing and it hurting youAnd it’s all we ever seem to doAnd don’t be mad cos I’m not pulling throughAnd this time, I know it’s what I usually doBut I’m tired of breathing and it hurting
I’m not really sure whyMy decisionsAre even up for judgementYou’ll never seem to like themSo maybe I should stop trying
I’m not really sure whyMy decisionsAre even up for judgementYou’ll never seem to like themSo maybe I should stop
