ARTIST BIO (SHORT)
Distinctive Indie Soul Pop singer Eva Gadd’s stock in trade is the ability to marry relatable lyrics with compelling melodies winning ongoing support from BBC Introducing – who were “blown away by her incredible vocals and flawless production.”
Her songs have been played on BBC Radio Devon & Cornwall and BBC Radio Oxfordshire, and she has appeared in BBC Introducing live sessions, and at their Airwaves Festival and Truck Festival stages
BBC Introducing presenter Sarah Gosling said after hearing Eva’s very first play on BBC Introducing South West back in 2020:
“There are some artists whose voice just touches your soul immediately and that was my response to Eva Gadd… …I’ve said it before and I will say it again, that type of music is so difficult to do with such incredible calibre as that.”
In 2022 Eva signed to Blue Lab Beats’ record label Blue Adventure for a four song project and the first two tracks of the collaboration -. “Breathing” and Get It, were produced by GRAMMY and JAZZ Fm award winning producer NK-OK of Blue Lab Beats, who co-wrote both tracks. The tracks have gained recognition from Spotify’s big playlists including New Music Friday Fresh Finds UK and Jazz UK, and November saw the release of Get It’s official video.
More recently Eva has been focusing on self releasing her own brand of indie pop songs. The One, released in November 2023 is an unashamedly tender and nostalgic acoustic ballad featured piano, bass guitar and vocal harmonies, with a distinct end of year vibe.
Eva’s latest release, Out Here (released 26/07/2024) is a more upbeat track altogether, and the lyrics are a spirited challenge for listeners to follow their destiny.
Now based in Oxfordshire, the 24 year old singer songwriter is building her live performance work across the UK.

ARTIST BIO (EXTENDED)
Eva Gadd is carving her niche in the UK music scene, with her unique fusion of indie pop meets soulful jazz infused vocals, resulting in songs which are both delicate and feisty.
Sound & Style
From her earliest days as a musician Eva has merged melancholic piano based melodies with soulful rich vocals. In her own material, she draws from personal experience of life and love and her lyrics portray a vulnerability coupled with wisdom beyond her years.
Asked how she would describe her sound, she says: I think my voice can be quite varied, as I try more things and collaborate with different people. It can range from a dark indie pop to a more upbeat jazz soul vibe. I like to think it’s soft and silky, but can be gutsy and powerful too.
Background
Born in Oxfordshire, Eva studied popular music at Falmouth University in Cornwall, graduating with a first class honours degree. She has always wanted to be a musician; “there really was never a plan B” she explains. From earliest days she regaled family with Disney film hits of the moment, later joining the choir which featured in Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Nutcracker Suite, and taking lessons with a well respected vocal coach. Studying popular music at college in Stratford on Avon allowed her to indulge her love of singing entirely, and there she embraced jazz standards as well as covering more contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse. Not one to be restricted by genre, a favourite moment was being invited to join the cast of a college musical, where she belted out a duet of Queen’s Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
Songwriting
Taking inspiration from the formidable powerhouses Amy Winehouse, Adele and Lianne La Havas in her teenage years, Eva’s musical identity began forming and she started gravitating towards the outstanding talents of Olivia Dean, Eloise and Rachel Chinouriri.
Having started writing her own songs in 2019 whilst at Uni, she quickly amassed an enviable catalogue with a view to spotlighting some compositions for release.
“Singing has been a way of expression for me for many years, but it’s only been the last few years that I’ve written my own songs. Song writing has acted as a form of escapism, freedom and creativity I couldn’t have quite got with singing alone.
“Whilst at Falmouth, I wrote and produced multiple songs, releasing a few of them whilst living and studying in the West Country.
For a Little While, a piano demo ballad was released in 2020 and gained praise from BBC Introducing presenter Sarah Gosling who had this to say about Eva and her very first upload to the network:
“There are some artists whose voice just touches your soul immediately and that was my response to Eva Gadd… …I’ve said it before and I will say it again, that type of music is so difficult to do with such incredible calibre as that.”
Following this, early in 2021 Eva’s release, Back to You, an upbeat pop and dance song produced by Jamie Amos was given the title ‘Upload of the Week by BBC Introducing South West.
Highlights
Signing to Blue Adventure Records and the release of ‘Breathing’
Soon after leaving Falmouth, Eva was signed to Blue Lab Beats’ record label Blue Adventure founded by GRAMMY and JAZZ Fm award winning producer NK-OK. Her debut single “Breathing”, followed by Get It are both co-written and produced by the highly talented Blue Lab Beats duo.
The collaboration with Blue Lab Beats perfectly showcased the unique versatility of her voice and lyrics, which resonates equally whether in a stripped back voice and piano acoustic or a fully produced upbeat blend of funk and jazz for the dance floor.
On Eva’s signing to Blue Adventure Records, NK-OK says, “I’ve been waiting for a good couple years to choose the right artists for Blue Adventure Records. Having Eva Gadd as the first official release on Blue Adventure is really amazing and I absolutely love working with her. Can’t wait to see what else she does for the future as it seems so bright for her.”
Eva was excited with how well Breathing and Get It have been received by listeners, with support from Spotify’s big playlists including New Music Friday UK, Fresh Finds UK and Jazz UK. There was also welcome media coverage at home and abroad from Jazz Fm, BBC Introducing Oxford, Scoope.nl and Rolling Stone India.
“Waking up and finding out that Breathing had made the New Music Friday and Fresh Finds UK playlists was such a dream come true and really accelerated the track. The song has had so much more support and excitement around it than I could have imagined, and I’m thrilled that my follow on song, Get It appears to have captured the imagination of listeners in the same way.”
More music with Blue Lab Beats is planned, but in the meantime Eva is working on a collection of her own Indie Pop Soul songs due for release over the summer and autumn of 2024. The first of these tracks is Out Here (release date 26/07/2024), an upbeat Anthem produced by Andrea Trevisan and Lucas Miles.
Gigs
Now based back in Oxfordshire which she feels is perfectly located for easy access to all parts of the UK, Eva’s focus is very much on live performances, both with her band, and as a solo acoustic artist.

PRESS QUOTES
BBC Introducing presenter Sarah Gosling said: “There are some artists whose voice just touches your soul immediately and that was my response to Eva Gadd.”
BBC Introducing in the South West, 2020
“It looks as if Eva’s Gadd’s got an exciting future ahead after the talent she showcases in ‘Breathing’. Her vocals glide effortlessly over Blue Lab Beats jazzy beats. The track is one to get you in a good mood!”
UD Selects: October Mixtape 2022
“Artist of the month on Radio Abbey Kenilworth chosen by Mid8 Music Distribution is the truly splendid Eva Gadd whose new single Get It is a jazz sprinkle on a high tempo beat.”
Paul Sanders, Radio Abbey Kenilworth, Oct 2023
Man, this takes me back. Like a modern spin on early noughties throwback r’n’b with a little touch of trap thrown in, ‘Get It’, well, kinda gets it. The beats are chilled enough, the instruments are just right, and the vocals are unbelievable. This will feel like a lazy comparison, but this sort of feels to me a bit like the answer to the eternal question of “What would Aaliyah be releasing in 2023?” It’s this, and I wouldn’t be shocked if there was a little touch of inspiration in there. It’s got all the relatable complicated relationship undertones of a classic, and I really hope people get a chance to hear this en masse. This is top, top work.
